New Zealand Playboy model has grabbed attention for posing naked on a sacred Maori mountain in New Zealand.

Jaylene Cook, 25, travelling with her photographer boyfriend Josh Shaw, 27, spent seven hours hiking up Mt Taranaki on April 26 and impulsively took the controversial shot once they reached the summit.

In the photograph uploaded on her Instagram account, Ms Cook can be seen looking over the view wearing just a hat, gloves and shoes.

Although the couple said they didn't stand on the head of the mountain out of respect for the Maori culture, locals claim the picture is 'disrespectful'.

Ms Cook argued that being naked is natural and not disrespectful.

She said that she is not surprised that the picture drew criticism and termed the controversy as a 'matter of opinion'.
