The Hindustan Times reported Wednesday that Kapil Sharma attacked Sunil Grover because his co-stars and crew had begun eating before him.
Sharma and his crew were on an Air India Melbourne-Delhi-Mumbai flight at the time. This was on Friday.
The HT report said Sharma was downing a bottle of scotch.
Food was served in the meantime and Sharma's co-stars and crew -- of The Kapil Sharma Show -- began to eat.
This, said the report which was based on the testimony of an unnamed witness, angered Sharma who was still finishing his drink.
Kapil got up, took off his shoe, and hit Sunil. He also pulled Sunil’s collar, and repeatedly slapped him'
How can you start eating when I have not, Sharma is reported to have said.
The HT report says that at this point, Sharma's "startled" co-stars began handing back their half-eaten food trays.
It was at this point that Grover stepped in, and tried to calm Sharma down.
That didn't work, and Sharma began yelling at Grover.
At this point, the source told HT: “Kapil got up, took off his shoe, and hit Sunil.”
The source added: “He also pulled Sunil’s collar, and repeatedly slapped him.”
The report added that a woman crew member also got hit in the scuffle that broke out.
All this while, the report said, Sharma kept shouting that his co-stars and crew were nothing without him. And that all of them owed him their careers, which he could snuff out any time he wished.
To Grover -- who had left the show some time ago to start up his own -- he said: Finally you had to come back to me.
And he continued abusing in Punjabi.
By this time, the report says, the plane's other passengers had become startled.
They asked the cabin crew whether something could be done.
The cabin crew told Sharma that they would have to call security on landing if he did not calm down.
The HT report added that Grover has since left The Kapil Sharma show and that two other actors too have stopped reporting for shooting.
