A woman in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh had to give birth in a field after doctors declared her unborn baby dead and made her leave the hospital

To give her some privacy as she gave birth, a few fellow women shielded her from public view with articles of clothing.

Dindori's Chief Medical Officer said "strict action would be taken after a probe and the accused will likely be suspended or punished with pay cut".

Last month, a newborn was incorrectly declared dead by Max hospital in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh.

It was only on the way to the funeral that the parents realised their child was still alive.

The hospital's licence has since been revoked.
