A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy was attacked by stone pelters in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday after one of the CRPF buses allegedly hit a motorcycle in Banihal area of the state.
There has been a spike in the stone pelting incident in the valley after the encounter of the militant Burhan Wani in July 2016.
19 CRPF personnel were injured on May 27 after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road due to stones being pelted on it in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
The stone pelting also claimed the life of a tourist from Chennai on May 7. The 22-year-old tourist R. Thirumani (22) died after getting injured in the stone pelting in Jammu and Kashmir's Narbal area.
The Chief Minister of the state had called an all-party meeting earlier to discuss measures to curb such incidents.
The stone pelting incident in the valley became prominent in the region from the 2008 Kashmir protests. Stone pelting was reported on a regular basis in 2010 Kashmir unrest and 2016-17 Kashmir unrest.
