India's Republic Day preparations were jolted on Wednesday after three soldiers were injured when a rope atop a helicopter snapped during live practice and the soldiers fell on the ground.

The soldiers received minor injuries. The Army has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The Indian Army begins drills around Rajpath in Delhi at least a month in advance amid heavy security cover in the area.

The Army and Air Force contingents begin their march past preparations in the early morning fog in Delhi to put their best foot forward on January 26th.

This year India will be hosting ten heads of ASEAN states as chief guests for the Republic Day.
