Former Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Thursday attacked the idea of organising the 'Sunburn' festival in India which will be held at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad from Friday, demanding that it should be stopped.
According to reports, Rao claimed that it was 'against Indian culture' to encourage such festivals as it spoiled the youngsters who engage in activities like drug abuse and alcohol consumption.
He further stated that such events allow children as young as 15 years of age to enter and be engaged in an environment where 'drug mafia's' supply drugs and 'build network'.
TPCC spokesperson Addanki Dayakar has claimed that the Telangana Government was supporting such 'drug culture' and called out Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for ignoring it.
Reports say that Rao visited the Gachibowli stadium on Thursday and had a tiff with the police over the issue, directing that the event should be canceled.
