A soldier was injured in unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector, a defence spokesperson said.

"Indian Army has retaliated to the unprovoked firing appropriately," he said.

The spokesperson said the injured soldier was evacuated to Army's 92 Base Hospital in Badamibagh cantonment, Srinagar for treatment.

There has been a spurt in ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC in the last couple of years.
