Sharp spike in WPI inflation, rises to 3.24% in August

The wholesale price inflation (WPI) shot up to 3.24 per cent for the month of August compared to the same period last year.

The rise in inflation was driven mainly by food and fuel prices.

Wholesale food prices rose 4.41 per cent in August from last year compared to 2.12 per cent last month, government data showed.
