Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra has said Aadhaar is safe and that people should support it.

Chandra said "the noises" against Aadhaar are instigated by the tech giants since they are the ones that control people's data "on which they make money".

Chandra then went on to ask whether people know "the kind of privacy agreement" they sign with the big tech companies? And that they (the people) cannot use their own data.

"The noises against Aadhar is instigated by biggies like google,Facebook etc. as they control your’s and my data on which they make money. Do you know the kind of privacy agreement we sign? You can not use ur own data. Aadhar is safe we all should support," Chandra tweeted.

The Aadhaar programme aims to assign every single Indian citizen a unique identification number. Aadhaar is also expected to help transfer government benefits more efficiently to the people who need them.

Aadhaar however has come under flak from some quarters who say it invades privacy. There have also been questions asked of how safe the data collected under the programme is.
