The Ludhiana police arrested an alleged "serial killer" on Friday after he confessed to murdering seven people in the past 22 years, reports said. Forty-seven-year-old Jagroop Singh, who hailed from Basti Badlowal in Ludhiana, is an auto-rickshaw driver. Singh was found guilty after the police were investigating a murder in Model town in Patiala, saying that all clues led to Jagroop including a footage of him on the CCTV at the crime scene. According to reports, Jagroop killed the man upon finding out that he was having an alleged affair with his lover Hema. Jagroop killed the man on December 30 after mixing his drink with sedatives and stabbing him with weapons. Singh committed his first murder in 1995 when he killed a woman during a robbery in Ludhiana. His next murder was in 1998 when he killed another woman in Badowal area in Ludhiana as well. In 2004, Jagroop was involved in an illicit affair with Paramjeet Kaur. He killed her husband and threw him in Yamuna river, reports said. Jagroop was later reportedly involved with Hema from Patiala in 2011 and killed her husband Nand Lala, he dumped his dead body in a remote area. He later killed another man in 2015 and stacked his body in a bag and dumped it in Vikas Nagar, reports said. In 2016, Paramjeet came to know about Jagroop’s illicit relationship with Hema after which they killed Paramjeet in Ludhiana, the police said. A case was registered against Jagroop and Hema under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
