Pakistan Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir on Tuesday reacted to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that Pakistan would "pay" for the attack on the Sunjuwan army camp in Jammu and said any act of aggression by India would be met with a proportionate response.

The defence minister also said Pakistan would "defend robustly" every inch of its soil.

"Any Indian aggression, strategic miscalculation or misadventure regardless of its scale, mode, or location will not go unpunished and shall be met with an equal and proportionate response. We will defend robustly every inch of Pakistan's soil," Pakistan's defence minister said.

Dastgir was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune that India's statements yesterday were a knee-jerk reaction and were not backed by any substantial evidence.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharama said yesterday that Pakistan would "pay" for the attack on the Sunjuwan army camp in Jammu which led to the deaths of five soldiers and one civilian.

Pakistan "will pay for the misadventure", said Sitharaman.
