The Supreme Court had on Tuesday banned the sale of firecrackers in Delhi till November 1, saying they were polluting.

The air quality in Delhi, which is never very good, takes an alarming dip -- because of the firecrackers -- after Diwali.

Diwali this year falls on October 19.

The Chhattisgarh government has since the Supreme Court order also banned the use of high-decibel firecrackers during firecrackers.
