After Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad and Allahabad, yet another city in the state may be renamed if BJP MLA from Agra North, Jagan Prasad Garg, has his way.

According to Garg, Agra was called Agravan about 5,000 years ago and the BJP MLA wants the state chief minister Yogi Adityanath to restore the centuries-old nomenclature.

Garg said, buttressing his claim, that most people from the Agrawal community live in Agra and the word Agra has no meaning and it doesn't make sense.

He said he would meet the Uttar Pradesh chief minister in this connection and request the name change.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister recently renamed Mughal Sarai as Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayay Nagar, Allahabad as Prayagraj and Faizabad as Ayodhya.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat government on Thursday said it was considering renaming Ahmedabad as Karnavati.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani told reporters in Gandhinagar the name change could be effected before the Lok Sabha election.
