A Mumbai court today sent the managers of the pub 1 Above Kevin Bawa and Lisbon Lopez to judicial custody till January 22 in the Kamala Mills fire case.

The managers were arrested by the police last month.

The Mumbai sessions court today also adjourned the anticipatory bail application of Mojo Bistro co-owner Yug Pathak till January 11. He had earlier been sent to police custody till January 12 after his arrest on January 6.

Meanwhile, BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta has asked all hotels and restaurants to do self fire safety audits in their premises and warned them that the BMC will otherwise take tough action.

The fire brigade investigation report had revealed that the fire originated from the charcoal embers used for hookah smoking in Mojo's Bistro and then spread to the 1 Above pub on the floor above. The fire department report is in contrast to earlier reports that indicated that the fire started at 1 Above.

Yug Pathak was arrested after he was named accused in the original First Information Report of the incident.

The police had earlier arrested the managers of 1 Above and issued a lookout notice against the owners of the restaurant, the Sanghvi brothers.

The police had also registered an FIR against the owners of Mojo Bistro and 1 Above pubs for alleged illegal construction.

The deadly fire at Kamala Mills complex on December 28 claimed 14 lives and left 21 injured.
