This generation of farmers are suffering due to the wrongdoings and wrong policies of the Congress, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing a public rally in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

Modi said that his government is bearing the brunt of Congress misrule.

''If Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel would had become the first prime minister of India, the condition of farmers that have deteriorated due to the misrule of Congress in 55-60 years wouldn't have happened. The farmers of our country would have been strong,'' Modi said.

Congress is dividing the people, Modi alleged and said recently, videos of a senior Congress leader has surfaced on social media wherein he was seeking votes from particular groups. Such a thing is not acceptable. It is a disrespect of democracy, Modi said.

Congress manufactures and spreads lies, Modi alleged and added Indira Gandhi Ji gave the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao' but could not eliminate poverty.

She nationalised banks and said the poor would benefit from it, but what happened? So many people did not even have accounts, Modi said.
