J&K: One militant killed as Police, terrorists exchange fire in Handwara

A group of terrorists attacked a police party in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara on Sunday, news agency ANI reported. According to reports, the police gunned down one terrorist, the exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists is underway.

Police retaliated when terrorists mounted an attack on a check-post at Handwara bypass, triggering a gunfight. The deceased terrorist has been identified as Ishtiyaaq from Pakistan, affiliated to terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed.

The Jammu and Kashmir police has registered a case, an investigation is underway. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the deceased terrorist, more details are awaited. 

Meanwhile, Naik Gosavi Keshav Somgir, an Army soldier, lost his life in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) Jammu and Kashmir's Nowshera Sector, earlier today.

On November 10, two terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in Tikken area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
