A Border Security Force (BSF) constable was killed in unprovoked firing by Pakistani Rangers along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Arnia and the R S Pura sector.
The BSF constable, who was injured in the ceasefire violation and later succumbed to his injuries, has been identified as Brijendra Bahadur Singh from Uttar Pradesh.
One civilian has also been injured as Pakistani Rangers fired mortar shells which landed close to residential areas.
The ceasefire violation comes days after union home minister Rajnath Singh visited border areas in the Jammu region and addressed a gathering of those who left their homes along the Line of Control (LoC) owing to repeated incidents of cross-border firing.
He issued a stern warning to Pakistan on repeated incidents of ceasefire violation.
