Honeypreet Insan has admitted her role in the violence that broke out after the conviction of now-disgraced Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Singh, Zee News quoted police sources as saying.

Honeypreet, the "adopted daughter" of Gurmeet Singh, is accused of having instigated the violence that followed Gurmeet Singh's conviction on August 25.

More than 35 people were killed in the violence that ensued after Gurmeet Singh's conviction.

Honeypreet was arrested by the Haryana Police on October 3.

Honeypreet's ex-husband has since alleged that Singh and Honeypreet lived as man and wife.

Gurmeet Singh was convicted of having raped two of his female followers back in 2002.

Honeypreet and other Dera leaders were accused of having incited the violence -- Honeypreet had been on the run ever since till her arrest.
