Government appoints former home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi as Comptroller and Auditor General

The Centre has appointed former home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi India's next Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India.

Mehrishi stepped down as home secretary on August 31.
Mehrishi will replace Shashi Kant Sharma whose tenure will end on September 24.
Former information and broadcasting secretary Sunil Arora was appointed election commissioner.
Senior bureaucrat Rajiv Gauba took over as the new home secretary.
