TTV Dhinakarn has rejected the claims of the ruling AIADMK's calling his victory the result of a "tacit understanding" between him and the DMK.
While addressing media persons in Chennai, Dhinakaran said that DMK appeared to have made "an arithmetic mistake" and was "overconfident".
The E Palaniswami-O.Panneerselvam AIADMK faction had claimed that TTV Dhinakarn had won the RK Nagar bypoll due to a "conspiracy" of Stalin and Dhinakaran.They added that it will not have any effect on their party.
Dhinakaran said he might have received DMK votes as those voters may have also preferred him, "but a DMK worker will not vote for someone else even if their party leader asks them to do so,".
Dhinakaran won the RK Nagar bypoll by a thumping margin of over 40,000 votes.
DMK candidate N Maruthu Ganesh finished third, acquiring 24,651 votes while AIADMKs' E Madhusudanan came second.
