Earlier in the day, two policemen were injured after a pressure bomb, allegedly planted by Naxals, exploded in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district.

The incident took place near village Paknabhatti, one kilometre away from Korchi taluka headquarters, a press release from the district police superintendent's office said.

The pressure bomb was linked to a banner put up by the Naxals near a culvert on Paknabhatti road. The two police officials were injured as they were taking off the banner, triggering the bomb explosion.

The Naxal insurgency, considered India's most serious internal security threat, has claimed around 10,000 lives since it started in the 1960s.
