A policeman from Chandigarh has been suspended for allegedly slapping a man who filmed him while he was riding his bike and talking on the phone.

The policeman has been identified as Surinder Singh, a head constable who was caught flouting traffic rules.

In the video, a local apprehends the policeman and asks him to not ride dangerously. On approaching the cop, the local saw that the cop is not even wearing the helmet properly. The cop then slaps the local.

The incident took place on Saturday at the Sector 36/37 dividing road in Chandigarh.

As soon as the video surfaced on Twitter, the former union minister and Congress leader Manish Tiwari sought action against the policeman while uploading the video on his twitter handle.

 He tweeted:

Chandigarh police SSP Traffic Shashank Anand has now said that the head constable has been suspended for misconduct and violating traffic norms. He has also been given a ticket for not wearing his helmet properly and speaking on the phone while driving.

SSP said, "The driving license of the cop has been seized and it will be sent to the transport and licensing authority for suspension for three months."

The head constable was posted in the security wing of the Chandigarh police.
