BJP's Sakshi Maharaj said that crores of supporters of Baba Ram Rahim should also be heard along with the rape survivor
After the special CBI court announced a guilty verdict against Ram Rahim Singh for the rape of two followers of Dera Sacha Sauda, large parts of Haryana and Punjab have witnessed unprecedented violence claiming 29 lives so far.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the violence and urged everyone to maintain peace.
The news of guru's arrest and the subsequent violence has generated reactions from across the political spectrum.
Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Sakshi Maharaj has spoken in defence of the guru.
He said it is a ploy to malign the Indian culture.
The BJP leader asked why crores of people standing with the guru are not being heard.

He added that if bigger incidnets take place, the courts will also be repsonsible along with the Dera people.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi expressed concern over the violence and appealed for peace.
The ruling BJP has said that the violence should not be linked with the saffron party.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said that Haryana chief minister should be sacked.
Communist Party of India (CPI) blamed the BJP-led Haryana government for the violence. It said that the state government should have anticipated such a situation.
