Bihar government will present an amendment law on the liquor prohibition act in the upcoming monsoon session of the state assembly
According to reports, state chief minister Nitish Kumar is set to relax certain provisions of liquor prohibition in the state.
Media reports have quoted sources saying that in a meeting held today, the chief minister's cabinet scrapped some of the strict provisions of prohibition.
Reports stated that prohibition was relaxed on the sealing of premises where liquor bottle would be found. Also, a house or vehicle will not be confiscated if liquor or a drunk person is found.
Speaking to PTI Nitish Kumar had said earlier that the ban on sale and consumption of alcohol had brought innumerable benefits.
He said, "People's quality of life has improved. I feel disgusted when people suggest that we should not have introduced prohibition since liquor brings lots of revenue".
