A bank manager of UCO bank has been arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old Russian woman.

The Russian woman has accused UCO Bank Vrindaban branch manager, Mahendra Prasad Singh of repeatedly raping her since September 17, when she came to India.

She said that she came to India on the advice of Singh.

The two became good friends after they met on Facebook in November 2016.

The woman came to India on September 17 and stayed in the temple town of Vrindaban.

She said that the bank manager took her to his house on September 22 where he raped her.

The woman said that she filed a complaint against the manager only after she was counselled by another Russian woman as the banker had threatened her of dire consequences for disclosing the matter to anyone.

She also said that even while the man raped her, he was in a relationship with several other women.

The woman has been sent for a medical examination.

Singh has been taken to police custody.

Mahendra Prasad Singh, on the other hand, claims that the two were not in touch for a year. He said that the woman was asking for money which he refused to pay. She, therefore, filed a complaint against him.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Shanker Mishra said that the arrest was based on a complaint filed by the woman.
