Anushka Sharma's wedding post becomes the 'Golden Tweet' of the year

Twitter, the microblogging giant, has come out with a statement stating Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma's wedding tweet as the most retweeted post of the year.

The tweet has now attained the status of the 'Golden Tweet' of the year.

Rumours about long-time couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s wedding surfaced earlier this month.

Anushka Sharma confirmed her marriage with Indian skipper Virat Kohli by posting it officially on Twitter.

"Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey,” read Anushka's tweet.

Virat also confirmed their wedding with the similar post along with a different picture.

Twitter's statement also revealed a list of most popular Indian celebrities on the microblogging site.

The list included stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar among others.

Some of the most 'talked-about' Indian movies of the year on Twitter included Shah Rukh’s Raees, Salman’s latest release Tiger Zinda Hai and Akshay Kumar's Tubelight.

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal Again, Ranbir Kapoor’s Jagga Jasoos and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati also made the list.
