Thirteen Amarnath pilgrims injured after the minibus they were travelling in rammed into a parked truck near Birma Bridge in Udhampur, according to an ANI report. The driver is reported to have fled from the spot. More details on the same are awaited.
Jitendra Singh, Udhampur MP and MoS PMO quoted in the ANI report said, "In constant touch with DC Udhampur and administration since morning. All injured Amarnath pilgrims are out of danger and admitted to District Hospital. All necessary help being provided. Most of them belong to Jhansi and surrounding parts of UP"
On the previous day, two pilgrims died due to cardiac arrest near the holy cave shrine of Amarnath while another was killed in a road accident in Pulwama district, taking the death toll in this year’s pilgrimage to 20.
The Amarnath Yatra resumed on July 9, after a day-long suspension allegedly due to fear of law and order problems on the second death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani.
It came as a huge relief to thousands of pilgrims who were stranded over the last few days owing to various reasons. The inclement weather condition being one of the primary reasons, why the yatra on Baltal and Pahalgam routers were suspended for a few days.
