In the wake of Gujarat election, the fare prices of flights and trains have increased.
The increase in the fare price is due to the increase in the number of passengers.
The fare price of a flight for a day before the first phase of election and the election day is charged at Rs 4400 Rs. While the usual fares for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad economy class is Rs 2000.
The usual 3000-3500 ticket for Vadodara is charged for Rs 4500-15000 before the election day. The same ticket is availed for Rs 4500 to Rs 6500 on the election day.
The tickets for Jamnagar have also been increased. The tickets for Mumbai-Jamnagar on 8 December is available at Rs 4500 to 15,000. While the tickets for 7000 is being charged for Rs 9000 on the election day.
The ticket for Rajkot usually available for Rs 4000- 5000 have also been increased. The tickets on 8-9 December is priced at Rs 8,000-14,000.
All sleeper to AC trains have released huge waiting lists. Passengers going from Mumbai to Ahmedabad have ticket in premium trains. However normal trains have waiting in sleeper and AC.
Most trains do not even have waiting tickets available during elections.
The railway officials have said that keeping in mind the increasing number of waiting tickets they can add few additional coaches.
A similar price hike is also seen in fare prices of private cars and buses leading to high earnings for the tour apparatus.
