Football star Lionel Messi married his childhood sweetheart Antonella Roccuzzo in a star-studded ceremony in his Argentine hometown Rosario on Friday.
The wedding took place at 2200 GMT in the City Center casino.
The ceremony which is being called the “wedding of the century” by the Argentine media was attended by some of the biggest names in the world of football.
Soccer players Luis Suarez, Neymar, Jordi Alba, Angel di Maria, and Javier Mascherano were among the 260 guests.
Singer Shakira flew in with her husband, Messi's teammate Gerard Pique.
An extra 350 police personnel were called in to provide security for the event.
Roccuzzo wore a white mermaid-style gown with a sweetheart neckline and embroidered straps by Spanish designer Rosa Clara.
The newly-wed couple appeared relaxed as they posed for the media after the private ceremony.
Uruguayan pop bands Rombai and Marama plus singer Karina, Aguero's wife, will reportedly perform at the reception.
There were rumours Shakira would also be singing.
Antonella and Lionel have known each other since they were five. Antonella is the cousin of Lionel's best friend Lucas Scaglia.
The two fell in love in 2009, and have been going strong since then. The couple has two sons Thiago Messi (4) and Mateo Messi (1).
