The football legend was unable to travel to the Middle East despite him carrying his passport with him
Argentina football legend Diego Maradona was unable to travel to Dubai because his passport was "stolen", the World Cup winner's lawyer said.
"They (Buenos Aires airport authorities) told him his passport had been reported as stolen despite Diego holding it in his hands!" Diego Morla, Maradona's lawyer said.
"Diego is really surprised by this saga, which has strangely happened right after he criticised the government," Morla told AFP.
Maradona had recently slammed the new government. He had said the country had fallen to its knees ever since the Mauricio Macri administration had come to power.
"Logically, I'd like for Macri to turn things around and give some joy to the people, but for now all I see is firings," Maradona had told Argentina's radio La Red.
