Randhir Kapoor of the Kapoor clan had an emotional Ganesh Chaturthi on September 13 as the veteran confirmed that it will be the last time when they celebrate the festival at the iconic studio.
For the last time, Randhir Kapoor got together with a few others from the family to install a Lord Ganesha idol and commence the prayers. After the prayers were over with, Randhir got emotional and told a website, "this was indeed the last Ganesh Utsav for RK Studios."
It was earlier reported that the family does not intend to keep the iconic studio and sell it as it was not “economically viable” for them to rebuild it, especially after it caught fire last year. The studio’s ground floor was gutted on September 16 in 2017 when a major fire broke out on the sets of dance reality show ‘Super Dancer’. No casualty was reported in the mishap.
Even after the fire, Rishi Kapoor expressed a desire to rebuild it with "state-of-the-art technology", his brother Randhir said it was not practical. "Yes, we have taken the decision to sell RK Studio. It is already up for sale. After the fire that broke at the studio, it was not viable to build the studio again... It was not economically viable to do it again," Randhir told PTI.
