Deepika-Ranveer wedding: Photos from private ceremony emerge on social media

This has got to be the most guarded wedding of the year. Even as fans rejoiced at the news of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh finally tying the knot on Wednesday, they - along with the media- were left anxiously waiting to get a glimpse of the newlyweds.

The news of their wedding broke in India on Wednesday late afternoon and most expected the family or the couple to release an official photo. But the wedding was kept so private, that cameras were not allowed anywhere in the ceremony. 

What we all eventually got to see, were glimpses of Ranveer and Deepika's family members arriving for the wedding on a yacht. Pictures of Ranveer's parents and sister arriving along with Prakash Padukone, his wife and younger daughter Anisha.

The couple, who married in a traditional Konkani ceremony in Lake Como, Italy, had a white themed wedding with most guests turning up in traditional white outfits. Father of the bride, as well as the groom's, were seen in traditional white shirt and veshti - to adhere to the South Indian traditions.

The wedding ceremony took place outside on the balcony of the grand Villa del Balbianello while the entire place was done up in white flowers. Both bride and groom were reportedly dressed in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee creations. Deepika, according to reports, was dressed in red and gold while Ranveer wore a traditional kurta and dhoti for the Konkani wedding. The couple took extra measures to hide their look from the media. A video shared by ANI shows both covering their faces with black umbrellas while exiting the venue post the ceremony while boarding the yacht.

Singer Shubha Mudgal sang live as Deepika, the bride, entered the mandap. The wedding took place at 8 am on Wednesday and guests were later served traditional South Indian food. 

The couple will have an Anand Karaj ceremony on Thursday, keeping Ranveer's background in mind. It has been a long wait for their fans, and one can hope that today, post the ceremony, we all can finally get a glimpse of the couple. The couple reportedly exchanged rings on November 12th and a Mehendi and Sangeet ceremony was held the next day. It is said that the bride got emotional in between and was consoled by Ranveer who gave her a tight hug. 

Ranveer and Deepika will be hosting a reception in Mumbai on 28th November. The couple have requested their guests to not give them gifts and instead donate the amount to the charity.
