New York’s Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is home to a rather unique exhibit - a toilet made of pure gold. The 18-karat golden toilet is named Ámerica. It is a reflection of the country's increasing obsession with wealth and everything glamorous. The toilet has been designed by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and is currently estimated to be worth anywhere between $1 million and $1.7 million.
Unlike other such priceless items in the world, this toilet is actually open for public use. The gold toilet requires cleaning crews to use medical wipes instead of industrial strength chemicals. According to officials, the toilet is cleaned each time it is used and is also be periodically steamed and polished to ensure that it retains its sparkle.
