A girl from an isolated corner of a massive country wanted to be a gymnast. She had no access to proper infrastructure or expertise for training. She had flat feet - a major stumbling block for an aspiring gymnast.
But as the father of India once said, “Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from indomitable will”.
She exercised day in and day out to change the shape of her feet. She had a trainer who believed in her. She trained hard for two decades and she did become a gymnast.
The 23-year-old from Agartala gave goosebumps to the nation as she narrowly missed a medal at the Rio Olympics 2016.
She now aims to win gold at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
