Ahead of India's tour to Sri Lanka starting from 26th July, India's new coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli held a joint press conference in Mumbai.
India will play three Tests, five ODIs and one T20 match against Sri Lanka.
This was their first press conference together and both seemed very supportive of each other.
"I don’t come with any baggage. I have matured over the last couple of weeks. I have matured since I last went to Sri Lanka. I will carry on from where I left. Ravi Shastris and Anil Kumbles will come and go. It is the team that deserves the credit," the new coach said.
"Bharat Arun has a track record. 15 years of coaching is outstanding. He knows these boys better than I do. In the last World Cup we took 77 wickets," he asserted.
“When you play the game, you want your mind to be clear. That happens with good support staff. My job is to do the same thing for every player," Shastri added.
Speaking to the media before the team's departure for the tour of Sri Lanka -- featuring three Tests, five ODIs and a Twenty20 starting July 26 -- Kohli, for the first time, shared his views on Shastri's appointment (WION)
