India beat Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first Test
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets each as India beat Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series at the Galle International Stadium on Saturday.
Sri Lankan opener Dimuth Karunaratne fell just three-run short of a century.
He was dismissed by an Ashwin delivery.
Sri Lanka collapsed for 245 in their second innings.
While Ashwin finished with a figure of three for 65, Jadeja got three wickets for 71.
Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav also took a wicket each.
Virat Kohli (103) struck his 17th century.
India will now play Sri Lanka in the second test beginning August 3.
