After commencing the deliveries of its entry-level sports crossover bike Aprilia SR 150 two days ago, Indian manufacturer of commercial vehicles, Piaggio, has received several thousand bookings already, including more than 1,000 bookings through the e-commerce site and Piaggio's official partner Paytm.
According to media reports, the delivery of Aprilia SR 150 is restricted to limited cities like Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kerala and Chennai and will subsequently move to other parts of the country as well.
The company is planning to introduce different variants of Aprilia in the next few months, confirmed Piagio managing director Stefano Pelle, according to media reports.
“We are adopting a twin-brand strategy — Vespa and Aprilia for the Indian market. While Vespa has universal appeal, Aprilia is being marketed as premium product,” he added.
