Japanese automaker Honda on Tuesday launched a hybrid variation of the Honda Accord in India for INR 37 lakh (USD 55,000).
Indian news organisation CNN News18 reported the biggest difference in the new sedan is its engine.
It is powered by a 2.0-litre Atkinson Cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine that uses Honda’s ‘Earth Dream Technology’, the news organisation reported.
This is the second hybrid from Honda in India. In 2008, it had launched the Civic hybrid but discontinued its sales within a year due to weak response.
"Hybrid is the technology for the future. In India, we are taking the current environmental concerns as our top priority. The Accord Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient hybrid model in its segment," Yoichiro Ueno, president and CEO at Honda Cars India was quoted as saying by Indian daily, Business Standard.
